National Specialty Judges Selection
 

The Board of the Giant Schnauzer Club of America appointed Marina Raukhverger, Doug Fishell and Christine Lietzau as the Judges Nomination Committee (Committee). Their assignment was to follow the approved Judges Selection Committee Process outlined in the GSCA Standing Rules to obtain nominations from our membership for conformation judges for the upcoming National Specialties. The Process uses the following eligibility criteria:
 
  • Nominated judges must have a working dog background.
  •  Nominated judges must have previously judged a "major" entry in the breed.
  • Nominated judges must have been involved in the breed through judging, handling or breeding for at least five (5) years.
  • Nominated judges can only judge a National Specialty once (1) in every five (5) years.

Nominations were open for 6 weeks and each member was mailed a nomination form and asked to return it in an enclosed addressed and stamped envelope. The Committee then compiled your nominations and identified the top vote-getting judges that met the eligibility criteria and were willing to accept the assignment, if selected. The Committee then prepared a biography of each of the judges which was sent out to the membership along with a ballot. The results of the vote were as follows:

Dany Canino - 46
Ben Helfrich - 43
Landis Hirstein - 30
Invalid votes (voted twice) – 7
