The GSCA
Message Board is back. May 6, 2008
You may have
been member of the GSCA message board in
the past. April 27, 2008 the old message
board was hacked. Administrative access
was gained and allowed the hacker(s) to
essentially edit/destroy every post.
Although the GSCA website is regularly
backed up, the decision was made to not
restore the message board data. The
system was outdated and, in fact, the
company had gone out of business a few
years ago. This is truly unfortunate
because a gold mine of valuable giant
schnauzer information was lost.
Understand no other part of the website
was compromised, including the members
only area. Because of the active nature
of message board systems that allows
access through any browser, it was
easier to gain administrative access
through the flaws in the old message
board system, unlike the secure files of
the rest of the GSCA website.
My apologies to anyone that may have
viewed the messages or photos after the
old message board was hacked. They were
truly sickening and I made the decision
to remove the message board before
anyone else had to see them, including
Tami.
I don’t know whether it was part of
extreme animal rights organization or
just a hacker who believes it is game to
access/destroy what others have created.
We will probably never know.
This new message board is recommended by
the server company and it is updated
regularly with security updates. The
last update was as recent as last month.
So, if you were member of the old board
before, we welcome you back.
You will need to re-register on this new
message board system and Tami will have
to manually approve every member. Tami
does have a partial list of people that
were approved in the past. Therefore, if
your registration request is from the
same email address, we may be able to
approve your rather quickly. The same
would be true with cross-reference to
the email addresses in the GSCA
membership roster. Please be patient
with Tami because registration approval
can only be done by her on evenings and
weekends. Also, next weekend is our GSCA
Western Specialty so she will be extra
busy at that event.
Feel free to contact Tami or myself if
you have any questions.

The GSCA
Message Board has been hacked. April
27, 2008
The GSCA
Message Board has been hacked.
Unfortunately, the damage that was done
is so significant that we will not be
able to recover and put the board back
up. We will be exploring other more
secure message board software so that we
will hopefully be able to have a message
board in the future. We are sorry that
this has happened, and we are sorry that
there are those in this world that make
it their mission to prevent others from
having a place where they can discuss
the things that they like (here Giant
Schnauzers) free of advertisements for
drugs, porn, or in this case their
animal rights agenda.

Purina
Parent Club Partnership, November 21, 2007
The
Giant Schnauzer Club of America through
its participation in the Purina Parent
Club Partnership (PPCP) Program has a
great opportunity to enhance the health
and well-being of the Giant Schnauzer.
Like the 162 other clubs participating
in the program, the Giant Schnauzer Club
of America earns funding for important
canine health studies, education efforts
and rescue programs when Purina Pro Club
members declare the Giant Schnauzer Club
of America to receive matching funds and
submit their weight circles.
As of
10/31/07 the Giant Schnauzer Club of
America has 151 members declared for the
Purina Parent Club Partnership Program.
From January 1, 2007 through October 31,
2007, 40 members have submitted weight
circles resulting in a total of $
855.39 accumulated thus far for the
2007 Program.
Purina
thanks you for this opportunity to
partner with you and the Canine Health
Foundation in advancing the health and
well being of the Giant Schnauzer.

Message from
President,
November 10,
2007
I received a letter from AKC granting us
official approval to hold Herding
Tests. Based on the information in the
correspondence we submitted, AKC felt
that our club has sufficient herding
test interest and experience exists in
the club to grant approval for the
holding of Herding Tests in connection
with our specialty shows. Their policy
allows parent clubs to forego the
sanctioned match prerequisite based on
the club’s experience and they have
granted us that option. Their records
have now been amended to reflect our
club’s eligibility.
