Giant Schnauzer Club of America Hall of Fame

A Tribute to the Great Giant Schnauzers of the Past, Present, and Future.

Purpose Statement:

The spirit behind the creation of this Hall of Fame is to recognize Giant Schnauzers that have achieved extraordinary success in the field(s) their owners have chosen to compete in (i.e. conformation, obedience, agility, tracking, herding, etc.) and also to provide recognition to outstanding producers in the breed – both Sires and Dams.

As we honor our past, present, and future, the records of giant schnauzers that enter the GSCA Hall of Fame will serve as reminders by which we may judge our current successes and set goals for our future.

Qualifications:

*      GSCA Hall of Fame induction is available to GSCA members in good standing at the time points, titles, etc. are earned and HOF application is completed.

*       The primary owner must be a club member.  It is not sufficient for a breeder of record/co-owner who is a club member to apply for induction unless they are also the primary owner.

*      It is the responsibility of the club member/primary owner to apply for HOF Induction.  (See application process for more details.)  The GSCA will not track or notify an owner if a Giant has achieved HOF status.

*      Inductions will take place once a year at the National Specialty or other designated event.

Performance Requirements:

A Giant must earn one or more of the titles listed below in order to be inducted into the GSCA Hall of Fame.  An achievement of any recognized title listed below shall result in induction.  At this time, titles must be earned through AKC.  Other event titles may be added in the future as deemed appropriate by the HOF committee.

Conformation Requirements:

Unlike achieving a Champion in the performance and working events, earning a conformation title (CH) does not necessarily mean a giant schnauzer has achieved excellence in the area of conformation.  Therefore, a points system has been developed to help define those giant schnauzers who most closely exemplify the breed standard.  Achieving three (3) National BISS wins or six (6) Best in Shows is an automatic entry; otherwise an accumulation of 75 points is required to be considered for HOF induction.

Outstanding Sire and Dam Requirements:

To recognize the contributions of those that produce the future generations of Giant Schnauzers, the GSCA awards the titles of Outstanding Sire (OS) and Outstanding Dam (OD) to giant schnauzers whose offspring demonstrate the breed’s character and purpose.  This degree of excellence is evidenced by the offspring earning the required number of points and AKC titles as established in the GSCA HOF criteria for outstanding sire and dam.

Requirements for Outstanding Sire (OS):

  1. Any sire born after January 1, 2009 must obtain a CHIC number.
  2. A sire must produce at least 18 qualifying progeny.
  3. The 18 qualifying progeny must earn a combined total of 100 points.
  4. Only the highest achievement in each category is recognized per dog.
  5. No qualifying progeny may contribute more than 12 points to the combined 100 point total.
  6. Use the chart below to determine point totals.

Requirements for Outstanding Dam (OD):

  1. Any dam born after January 1, 2009 must obtain a CHIC number.
  2. Any dam that produces more than 4 litters is automatically disqualified from consideration.
  3. A dam must produce at least 6 qualifying progeny.
  4. The 6 qualifying progeny must earn a combined total of 40 points.
  5. Only the highest achievement in each category is recognized per dog.
  6. No qualifying progeny may contribute more than 12 points to the combined 40 point total.
